The week leading up to Christmas was my best, as I expected. Almost fully booked throughout.
People still wanted to book with me, even though I was away in Spain. I actually had to explain to one lady, that I would have to charge her the price of flying home and back to Spain and then the cost of her nails, if she really was going to demand my return! She eventually understood.
I worked until 7pm most evenings, 7.30pm another and then 8.30pm on Saturday before Christmas. I went off to Spain on the Sunday exhausted after just 3 hours sleep.
I think everyone enjoyed their glittery nails, (lots and lots of those) along with the wine, biscuits and plenty of mince pies.
Thank you to everyone for their cards, wishes and presents. Truly a wonderful week.
Im back home now, after a well deserved rest in chilly Manchester. People booked in now for their New Year party nails etc.

People ask many times, what is the difference between Gelish and Shelac.
Shelac is a power polish. It is basically a polish with gel which enables it to be set in a uv or led light. It is a chip resistant polish which is dry on completion of the treatment.
Gelish is a gel polish with colour added. It is stronger and more flexible than Shelac. It has a foundation layer which includes keratin. This helps the nails to strengthen and they certainly grow faster too. If you are prone to dry flaky nails, then Gelish helps to bond it together again and improves the condition of your nails.
When I apply Gelish I use all the proper components of the system. First I prepare and clean the natural nails. Next I use the Bond solution which takes away any oils/grease from the nail surface. Then the Foundation layer is applied and set in the uv light. Next comes the colour of your choice, this is normally applied in two thin layers. Again it is set in the uv light. Sometimes, depending on the colour depth, I use three coats of the colour. Finally I apply the Top Coat which protects the colour and gives the nails an amazing shine which lasts the whole 3 weeks that this system lasts for.
I finish the the treatment off with cuticle oil and if the clients hands need it, a hand massage with a good quality professional hand cream.
I have some some clients who have come to me with very dry nails, many have said that it is because of using Shelac. I believe it is possibly because their Shelac was being soaked off using acetone, instead of the proper soak off solution.
I always soak off Gelish with the proper soak off solution for this product. It is much kinder to the natural nails and smells nice too.
I am am a fully qualified, insured and professional nail technician, and use only professional products for my services.

A lot of you will probably have had acrylic enhancements or even UV Gel Polish applied to your nails over the Christmas period. Now is the time to be seeking your appointment for infills of your acrylics or a soak off and re-application of your UV Gel Polish. Please call now to secure your appointments.
If you dont want to wear your enhancements any more, please, please, do not try to remove them yourself. You will take three or four layers of your own natural nail by pulling them off, thus weakening your natural nails. Soaking them in acetone for prolonged lengths of time will also weaken them. At NailsXpress we use a special soak off system which reduces the time your nails are soaking.
If you have had your UV Gel Polish applied with NailsXpress and would like a soak off and reapplication, either of a different colour or style, then you will not be charged for the soak off.
Remember only Gelish lasts for UP TO 3 weeks depending on what you do with your hands and also how fast your nails grow.
I look forward to hearing from you. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Gelish has arrived. Gelish comes in a array of colours, applies just like polish and cures (sets) in a uv lamp. Gelish stays on for up to 3 weeks with no chipping or peeling like traditional polish and removal (soak-off) takes only 15 minutes. There is a foundation layer which is a new technology for gel adhesion. It bonds with the keratin in your natural nail so helps to strengthen your nails. Gelish is also flexible so for those people who have thin or flexible nails, Gelish will move with them and not break or split.
Gelish can be applied over natural nails and also acrylic or gel enhancements.
Obviously as with any nail system, we the nail technicians, apply your chosen type of enhancements and the clinet has to do their bit to look after them.

Minx is one of the latest nail products from America. All the stars have used Minx. You will see them on Beyonce a lot, especially in her videos as well as Lady Ga Ga of course. Victoria Beckham, Pink and Rhianna have also worn them. Look out for them on their videos or photo shoots.
SO, WHAT IS MINX?
Minx is a waterproof nail coating which is applied directly over the natural nail or enhancement using an infra-red lamp. They don't chip or smudge and don't cause any damage to the natural nail plate. Also, and probably best of all, there is no drying time. So as soon as they are on, you are ready to slip on your shoes.
Minx lasts around 4-6 weeks on toes and around 4-7 days on hands, depending on how hands on you are. If you have discoloured nails, Minx will cover this up too.
Removal is very very quick. For some designs, have a look at the gallery page.

Always ensure you are using a safe Salon or Nail Technician. A chemical called MMA is very bad for your nails. A good technician would only use EMA. An explanation of this follows:
MMA is an abbreviation for a chemical also known as MethaMethacrylate. This substance in its liquid form when mixed with acrylic powder goes through a chemical process called polymerization resulting in an extremely rigid nail enhancement. This rigidity can cause major trauma to the natural nail if the enhancement is put under any strain. The alternative to this product is EMA, EthylMethacrylate, a product designed to create a flexible acrylic nail. MMA has incredibly poor adhesive qualities meaning in order to attach the product to the natural nail the technician must heavily etch the surface of the nail plate. This ultimately thins the nail plate compromising the health of the natural nail. In comparison high quality EMA liquid based products when applied by a qualified professional technician will provide a safe nail enhancement whilst maintaining the integrity of the natural nail.

Do you have a nail condition? Onycholiosis is not as uncommon as you may think (it where the nail seperates from the nail bed). There is treatment available for it. Some people have put up with it for years, thinking there is nothing they can do. There is no need. See your doctor and get treatment. Have beautiful nails again.
In the meantime, keep your hands dry, wear gloves when washing up etc. Apply hand cream and cuticle oils with vitamins to help the process of getting your hands and nails into good condition. But most of all, get an appointment with your doctor for treatement and special vitamins etc.
